Practice Ignition welcomes David New

October 15th, 2019 by Practice Ignition 2 minutes read

We’re thrilled to announce that David New will be joining us in the new year as our Head of APAC. Given his CV includes senior leadership positions at Xero, Receipt Bank and most recently Spotlight Reporting – he’s a familiar face in cloud accounting. With a total of 25 years experience in the accounting software industry, his background includes leading and scaling fast growing teams. He’s also a long-time friend of Practice Ignition, so we’re certain he’ll be a valuable addition to drive growth in the APAC region.

David joins Practice Ignition following our A$26M Series B round, and will play a key role as we double-down in what is currently our largest market. We’re helping more than 2,500 accounting and bookkeeping firms manage over 125,000 engagements every month. With David on board, he’ll oversee the acceleration of our hiring, and focus the direction on establishing deeper relationships with practices across Oceania. He’ll be hiring in a range of roles from Sales and Marketing through to Customer Success, enabling Practice Ignition to be known and loved by a broader customer base.

Over the past eight years, David has established himself as a respected leader in cloud accounting. He joined Xero Australia in their early years as Sales Director, and was responsible for winning the hearts and minds of accountants across the country. He was then appointed Managing Director of Receipt Bank ANZ, where he established a local team and grew a strong local presence (almost) from scratch. As CSO at Spotlight Reporting, David has played an integral role in transforming practices around the world from traditional compliance firms to those offering valuable business advisory.

"We've known Dave since his time at Xero and always felt he'd make a terrific addition to the PI team. His industry knowledge, well-established network, together with his talent and experience will all be great assets to the business during this next exciting phase of our growth. We can't wait to have him on board." said Practice Ignition founder and CEO, Guy Pearson.

When he’s not working, David is a self confessed sports nut. He loves playing and watching almost any sport. You’ll also find him cheering on his beloved, but terribly unlucky, (according to him 😏) St George Dragons. A keen skier, he likes to spend a couple of weeks of his Australian summer each year skiing the slopes of Canada or Japan. His two sons keep him busy the rest of the time, watching them play sport or listening to the two aspiring musicians perform. That is, when the three of them aren't down at Bondi catching a few waves together!

Welcome to Practice Ignition, Dave. We eagerly await your arrival!
